This study explores the philosophical ideas of George Berkeley, an Irish philosopher best known for his contributions to a theory he called "immaterialism". Arthur Aston Luce MC (1882 – 1977) was professor of philosophy at Trinity College, Dublin and also Precentor of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin (1952–1973). Other notable works by this author include: “Sense Without Matter, or Direct Perception” (1954), and “Fishing and Thinking”(1959).
