Morris's version of the story of the sculptor Pygmalion who creates a statue of the perfect woman which is brought to life, first related in Ovid's 'Metamorphoses'. The poem is accompanied by reproductions of Burne-Jones's four oil paintings completed between 1875-78. Reprinted from the R H Russell edition published in October 1903.
