Cornelia Mee (1815-1846) was an author and expert in needlework. Mrs. Mee, her husband, and her sister ran a yarn and needlework import/warehouse business in Bath, England. Many of her knitting books were printed for ladies' charitable societies which used her knitting "receipts" to clothe the poor mill workers who were out of work due to the American Civil War and the embargo of cotton. Her works include: A Manual of Knitting, Netting, and Crochet Work (1842), The Companion to the Work Table (1844), Crochet Explained and Illustrated (1846), Exercises in Knitting (1846) and Crochet Doilies and Edgings (1846).
