An indispensable plain-English guide to America s most important employment laws, co-branded with the Society for Human Resource Management.Essential Guide to Federal Employment Laws is a plain-English guide to the 20 most important federal laws dealing with employment issues. It provides all the information needed on each of the major federal employment laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and more. Each chapter covers a separate law, giving readers a digest of the law's most important features. The book will be co-branded with the Society for Human Resource Management, the world s largest association dedicated to human resources. Its features include a "Key Facts" sidebar for each provision of each law, letting readers know the most important takeaway points and a "Legal Developments" sidebar for every law that has recently seen some changes (for example, new regulations or an important new court case) or will in the near future (pending cases, proposed regulations). This is a must-have resource for human resources professionals and managers, business owners, and reference librarians. Readers will find out what is allowed and prohibited, what businesses must comply, practical tips to stay within the scope of the law, which federal agencies enforce the law and more.
