The true story of the 1944 Rangoon Disaster-when only 1 of 11 B-29s returned to its home base-when 18 men died, and 29 airmen were captured by the Japanese. All this was the result of a very bad decision by our commanding officer which had a dramatic impact on the lives of 47 men.

A New Yorker, Karnig Thomasian volunteered for the Army Air Corp in 1942 at the age of 18. As a left gunner on a B-29 Superfortress during WWII he fought against the Japanese. After his liberation as a prisoner of war, and an honorable discharge from the service, Thomasian used the GI Bill to attend the Art Students League in New York. He worked in top advertising agencies and a graphic design firm for the next 44 years. Retirement in 1996 enabled him to pursue his artistic capabilities; however, his deepest desire was to help ex-pows/veterans in getting their disability compensations. He voluntarily became an accredited National Service Officer in 1999 and has helped over 55 combat veterans.
