Riassunto

The undisputed king of pop-culture parody, “Weird Al” Yankovic has sold more comedy recordings than any other artist in history, receiving three Grammy Awards (and 14 nominations) in the process. The man behind classics such as “Eat It,” “Amish Paradise,” and “White & Nerdy” performed in more than 100 cities throughout North America, Europe, and Australia in support of his latest (and, to date, highest-charting) album, Alpocalypse. At last the time has come for a comprehensive illustrated tribute to this icon of the American humor landscape. Covering more than three decades of hilarious songs, videos, concert performances, and his life story in words and pictures, and featuring an introduction, lists, tweets, and photo captions from Yankovic himself, Weird Al: The Book is the ultimate companion piece to an extraordinary career.Praise for Weird Al: The Book:“Part biography and part pop culture museum, Weird Al: The Book is a treat.… A gorgeous look at Yankovic’s life.”―Huffington Post

Dalla quarta di copertina

"Weird Al" Yankovic is the singer songwriter/comedian/satirist known for his parodies of popular pop songs and for their accompanying music videos. (Michael Jackson's "Beat It" was reborn as "Eat It;" Coolio's "Gangstar's Paradise" became "Amish Paradise;" etc.) He's sold more than twelve million albums, more than any other comedy act in history, and won three Grammy Awards out of fourteen nominations. His last album, 2011's "Alpocalypse" is his highest charting album ever and scored two Grammy nominations. He tours and records regularly and he definitely is an act that garners new generations. Weird Al is the big, fun, full color career retrospective that tells Weird Al's story in 20,000 words and 200 pictures. It's all here from his early association with Dr. Demento and his first parody hit ("My Bologna") to his sanctioned pirating of the MTV airwaves for hours in its early days and the story behind his ill fated, cult favourite movie, UHF. The book also reveals all the details behind his hit songs and the artists' reactions, good and bad. Filled with anecdotes, album art, behind the scenes pix, music video screen shots, lyrics, fan submitted imagery discography/videography, captions by Al and more, it's the ultimate fun and funny volume his fanatical fans crave.
