Modern Manufacturing Technology & Cost Estimation offers a systematic coverage of essential advanced manufacturing processes. Throughout the book authors stress practical approach to near-net-shape and non-traditional (EDM, ECM) processes. Technological developments have recently advanced along with materials, tooling and machines. This book serves as the concise resource related to:¿ Electrophysical and electrochemical methods and principles¿ Near-net-shape processes and applications¿ Technological Knowledge systems developments¿ material - process: cost relationships¿ technology-oriented published, Internet and periodical information This book enables a practitioner:¿ efficiently perform feasibility study¿ develop a basis for cost-oriented decision support.¿ acquire new knowledge or to refresh knowledge related to manufacturing analysis and characteristics. This on-the-job book will support cost justification studies, reduce decision time which is critical for busy professionals. Furthermore, it offers common engineering vision for the cross-functional team of manufacturing engineer, product designer, purchasing specialist, sales and marketing professionals. It is written for a practitioner who does not have time to undertake the long hours needed to research the subject The cost reduction course presented in this book can become a model for a set of training courses. Additionally, the book contains useful visual models and templates, examples and diagrams. If technologies described in this book can replace several traditional operations, consolidate product features and improve quality, that means, based on Modern Manufacturing Technology & Cost Estimation a practitioner will be able:¿ generate more creative and cost saving ideas, concepts¿ correctly diagnose a manufacturing problem¿ optimize material and process selection¿ improve mold and die manufacturing processes<

Michael Lembersky has over twenty five years of experience and educational background in production engineering and cost estimation. He holds a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in machining and forming processes. He began his career as manufacturing engineer developing machining, forming technology (stamping, casting, plastic molding) and non-traditional (electrical discharge machining, electrochemical machining, etc.) applications for a variety of product systems resulted in significant cost reduction. Michael conducted research and scientific projects in modern technology; identified and evaluated technological and economical trends in manufacturing environment. He worked for medium and large size industrial companies. He constantly applied educational background and experience in variety of processes such as mechanical machining, sheet metal stamping, electrochemical machining, die casting, plastic technology to achieve productivity increase and significant dollar savings by replacing materials, eliminating loses in production. He always helped companies to benefit from selection of different technologies. Michael contributed to success of cross-functional teams by discovering opportunities for product innovations, which led to sufficient economical achievements and reduced time-to-market. He provided complex cost assessment studies and competitive analysis resulted in multiple components reduction and product performance improvements. Michael developed engineering knowledge databases, conducted value engineering projects and implemented quality assurance systems. Managed research projects related to industrial components and their molds and dies, which resulted in million dollars savings. He has continuously expanded knowledge and expertise by completing courses in Value Engineering /Value Analysis, Design for Manufacturing, Tooling Cost Estimation, SAP Implementation. Gained extensive experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning
