The Bible states unequivocally that there is "one body and one Spirit -just as you were called to one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all" (Eph. 4:4,5). What the world sees, however, is a church with a thousand faces and ten-thousand voices: The teachings and practices of those who call themselves Christians today are anything but "one." They are, in fact, so estranged and contradictory to the New Testament writings that many of these so-called churches are indistinguishable from the culture in which they're found. Rather than being "called out" and separate from the world, they have embraced it. Instead of being a "peculiar people," they easily blend in with the rest of their society. No Middle Ground addresses this problem and rests the burden of changing these appalling circumstances squarely on the shoulders of those individuals who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ. The church has no witness to the world today because the church has no integrity, and it lacks integrity because it has been lying with the enemy in the bed of compromise! This book not only identifies the roots of this compromise, but provides several means for the individual members of the church to be a part of the solution. We have got to stop pointing our fingers at the world and blaming them for the wickedness all around us: The world is, after-all, just being the world. It is the church that has been assigned the responsibility of providing light and salt to the world.Content to sing our "praise" songs, to read our Left Behind books, and to attend one seminar after another, we have forgotten that our calling is to make disciples while we participate in the Gospel. More than being familiar with the words of our Master, we are challenged to live as He lived; a life of self-sacrifice and extravagant love for others. We see greater numbers of people than ever before repeating a simple prayer of "ac

Gary Villamor has been preparing and teaching Bible lessons for more than thirty years, and has been a defender of the faith since becoming a Christian in 1968. He has also preached from several pulpits on a part-time basis, and has done public speaking for several organizations. His wife, Shirley, works for the Fresno Unified School District. They have been married for more than 40 years, and are the parents of three grown children. While Mr. Villamor has read more than 500 books about the Bible, has attended more than 2500 Bible studies, and has listened to more than 5000 sermons, it is his conviction that even if he had the gift of prophecy and could fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, he would have absolutely nothing if he didn't have love (1 Cor. 13:2). Unlike many of the teachers of our day whose credentials are their degrees, he has qualified himself to write this book through his relationship with the Lord. As Jesus told the religious leaders of his day, "You diligently study the Scriptures, because you think that by them you posses eternal life: These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life" (John 5:39-40). It is the desire of Gary's heart to help others realize the difference between knowing about Jesus, and knowing Jesus."It has taken me sixty years to right this book," Gary says, "because it took me that long to get to know Jesus Christ: To die to myself and allow Christ to live in me. I wasn't really introduced to Christ until I was 24 years old, and I loved him immediately. I'd been searching for truth in all the wrong places; philosophies and religions. I was even attending a "church," of sorts, except that you didn't need to own a Bible to attend. Then one day a couple of evangelists knocked on my front door; they wanted to know if I'd be interested in learning about Jesus Christ. They weren't J.W.'s or Mormons, but honest to goodness Christians. The rest is history, as they say. I was hooked on Jesus the
