CHAPTER 1

Surrounded by beautiful green fields of tall wild grass and flowers of many shapes and colors, a field mouse family lived in their nest hidden deep inside the roots of a large old fig tree.

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold it was very good. Genesis 1:31

This mouse family had a warm lovely home which kept them safe from One- Eyed Blacky, the stray cat, and kept them warm on cold rainy days.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

Mama and Papa mouse and their little boy, Toby, had a very special love for each other and all living things. Whether they flew in the air or walked on the ground.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 2 John 4:11

Now, in the early morning, Toby would go out with Papa mouse to learn the things a good mouse needed to know. Papa mouse would teach Toby right from wrong and read to him special words from Heaven above.

Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:1

Papa mouse also taught Toby to be kind to others even when others were not so kind to him. He taught Toby to put down his chores to help a friend in need, when their hands were full of weeds. All these things and many more, are what makes a good obedient mouse.

Beloved, let us Love one another for love is of God. 1 John 4:7

Bedtime came early for Toby. Rest and sleep is what a little mouse needs. Tomorrow would be a day full of hopes and good things to see.

The Lord is thy keeper. Psalm 121:5
