Riassunto

Explorers: Columbus, Lewis and Clarke, Zebulon Pike, Charles Wilkes, Clarence King and John W. Powell is a book written by George Iles that delves into the lives and expeditions of six famous explorers. The book begins with Christopher Columbus and his journey to the New World, detailing his struggles and triumphs. It then moves on to the explorations of Lewis and Clarke, who were sent by President Jefferson to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Territory. The book also covers the expeditions of Zebulon Pike, who explored the American Southwest, and Charles Wilkes, who led the United States Exploring Expedition to the Pacific Ocean. The last two explorers featured in the book are Clarence King and John W. Powell. King was a geologist who explored the American West and was instrumental in the creation of the United States Geological Survey. Powell, on the other hand, was a soldier and explorer who led the first expedition down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Explorers: Columbus, Lewis and Clarke, Zebulon Pike, Charles Wilkes, Clarence King and John W. Powell provides a comprehensive look at the lives and accomplishments of these six explorers, highlighting their impact on American history and culture. The book is a great resource for anyone interested in exploration, history, or American geography. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
