Riassunto

'Fantasy - just fantasy,' said the author when asked about this story. "We are the New Order and we come in your interest. We will complete our handover to one of your kind, then we will leave." Art Anstrom is first to spot The New Order. "Prof" he rasps in a breathless whisper "there is something out there!" 'Fragmented telephone lines crackle, computers crash, ATMs with unreadable screens and unresponsively blink back the same, zigzag lines.' Motivated by a morally compassionate higher force and sent to derail our self-destruction, The New Order arrives. 'Bess, the bag lady, receives her message from the shop window of Waitrose, Art Anstrom receives his from the plate glass windows at the Lynch Observatory. Tony Blair receives his message from the plasma screen in the emergency room lilac and purple zigzags. "It's different this time," says Bess. She's right. As The New Order messages are delivered, mankind is thrown into a new dimension of consciousness. Live the horrific judgment of Ted Lawson, a serial killer on Death Row in Dallas as it becomes apparent that every rapist and murderer on earth also has an anniversary to dread. The specs for the punishment are simple - in each instance your crime is revisited upon you and you alone serve as judge and jury. Watch what happens to cruel hunters on safari in South Africa and encounter - briefly but bloodily - Julio Mendes, a cocaine baron in Bogata and see Pierre the pickpocket in Paris get his comeuppance. And what of Andrew, the London City gentleman who likes nasty movies starring little boys? 'Fantasy, just fantasy' she said but if you are sick of the injustice, read this book. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shudder but you will feel better.
