Unless you've faced a class of middle schoolers who would rather be watching TikTok than singing, you don't know. These short songs are a tribute to those who have answered the call. They were forged in the fires of the middle school music classroom from a need to create interactive ways to teach music theory to unwilling singers. Yes, these songs are ridiculous. That's the point. Acknowledge that. Embrace it.
These 20 short songs are intended to help teach music theory to children and young students, assuming you can keep them off their phones long enough... Maybe I should make a digital version... I'll get on that. For the time being, these songs have full piano accompaniment and guitar chords, turn lyrics into music, and are intended for a classroom setting. They could be used for individual music lessons or the dedicated student could use them to learn at home, but if they're doing that, they're probably already further down the road they need to go. Each song is followed by an explanation of the theory - a page that provides the necessary "preparation" for the song (what the student needs to know to make sense of the song), and shows the "Lyrics in Action" by explaining the theory in the lyrics line by line. Piano/Vocal/Guitar. Good luck and godspeed.
