In this personal narrative, author Jon P. Van Deinse explores a variety of topics relating to his life and his thoughts on some contemporary topics. He lost his innocence at a Catholic school at the hands of an abusive priest, an event that would inform much of the rest of his life. Jon didn’t tell anyone about the abuse until twenty years later, and many of his struggles may be related to that early trauma. He has been diagnosed with a wide range of mental illnesses, from depression to borderline personality disorder. In this candid narrative, he explores his life as a child, adolescent, and adult, including the joys and challenges of being a parent. He examines his suicide attempt, his shock treatment for depression, and the racing thoughts that constantly go through his brain. He follows up each of his experiences with life lessons and questions to consider so you can learn from your own challenges, improving your understanding of yourself and others.
