It is but natural for all humans to have dreams. However, some build castles in the air, and some harness their dreams to jostle others' mind-sets with a view to catapult the cause of common good to new heights. The latter is what Jogi Dhillon does in his new book.
While traversing through Asia, Europe, and America, Jogi Dhillon has had firsthand experience of envious, vengeful, greedy, hateful, and selfish conduct at all levels-be it social, cultural, ethical, religious, or political. This has affected his perceptive mind, and he feels that the present generation seems to be oblivious of the truth that world peace is being threatened by its less than considered decisions. He is warning us that the world is going a wrong way and course correction is imperative. He reinforces his arguments to coax us to redefine our notions even at the cost of repetition. Being a simple man, Jogi Dhillon suggests ridiculously simple solutions for various problems. If his effort stirs someone's soul, his aim would be more than achieved.

Dream 1
God created the earth, trees, flowers, herbs, and living beings both big and small after many millenniums because of his unbound mercy, and man had developed along with all these. God also created many kinds of diseases, which afflict all vegetation, animals, and human beings according to their destiny.
Over the centuries, mankind has been able to find the cure for many diseases, but it has been unable to find a cure for the affliction that afflicts it the most on earth: which is called envy (the root cause of any war—and no living beings are free of its manifestation).
The scientists of the world have produced and created huge wherewithal for the pleasure and convenience of human beings and for their wars. Science and technology have produced powerful instruments that can destroy the world in a wink of an eye, but no one is trying to treat war as a dreaded disease. If someone has attempted it, no one seems to have cared about its consequences. Obviously, their thinking seems to be misdirected. There does not seem to be any effective body to establish and retain peace in the world.
Educational curricula are void of any programs related to the establishment of peace in the world. No incentives or awards are given to encourage people to find a lasting solution to the disease of war. It is evident that no one seems to be interested in the concept of peace in the world. Whatever we see in the media is mostly the thought process of the government policy in different words.
The leaders of all sorts who are responsible for establishing peace are themselves afflicted with the virus of hate and envy, which they spread among their followers with impunity. As such, they are incapable of making any positive move toward the establishment of peace in the world.
The moment they begin to think about peace, the peace process is shattered somewhere in the world. War has always beaten peace.
There is paradox in the world of today. Those who propagate war enjoy a life of comfort, even luxury, and the common man is subjected to its ravages. The world can be compared to a human body. All the nations are its organs, and every organ has some kind of disease contributing toward nations to wage different kinds of wars, like religious wars, wars for freedom, political wars, and wars for power. Today humanity is suffering from this incurable cancer. That is just as the body suffering from cancer can be helped temporarily with radiation or chemotherapy, so the world too can be helped but, ultimately, cannot be saved from destruction, unless the warmongering leaders are isolated and made to understand the necessity of world peace.
Dream 2
The World
God's whole creation, known as world, is like a big country. All nations are its colonies, and the cities are its suburbs. The highways are the streets and avenues, and the canals and rivers are the sewer systems. The nations are decorated by beautiful cultures and various religions. Just as a gardener sows plants and flowers in rows, God has decorated the world with many different cultures, languages, and races. Now it is up to the humans to make it a heaven or a hell.
Some children look after their inheritance; others ruin it by their neglect. Today's man thanklessly ignores the riches and bounty of nature by going away from it. Whenever the nature is disturbed by man, it brings various calamities for mankind.
Those who neglect their duties and show no respect for the gifts of nature will someday suffer for doing so. Man's inadvertent or advertent actions against nature invite its wrath, which is unimaginable.
Dream 3
Freeze Down
Let us create an army with the sole purpose to protect world peace. The army so created would be constituted by men and officers from every country. Each country would contribute its share of the expenses of this army.
The fundamentals of peace are the following:
1. Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty
2. Mutual nonaggression
3. Mutual noninterference
4. Equality and mutual benefit
5. Peaceful coexistence
My Dream
Demobilize armies of all the countries; no nation is to have an army. If there will be no incidence of war in the world, why should any country have an army?
The same rule applies for making ammunition or other war materials.
The world army would investigate if any nation has broken its charter and indulged in war preparations. The punishment for those who breach the law of peace must be very severe so that no government would even think of breaching the law of peace. The punishment could be total sacking of the government involved—not just the president, since the whole government would be considered responsible for its actions. Then the new government will know what can happen to them if they dare to break the law of peace.
Dream 4
Promises
The politicians of today do not make any commitment to peace. They must be made to do so. A promise of peace must be a prerequisite for every candidate for contesting elections. All presidents, PMs, MLAs, and MPs should report to the people each year what promises they were able to fulfill and what they did to keep the promise of peace. One who didn't do anything for peace must be impeached and disqualified from holding any political office for the rest of his life. The public should not wait for his full four-year term of office to expire.
A man who cannot keep his promises cannot keep his job. The solution is as simple as that.
Dream 5
Science
Today's progress is tomorrow's disaster. Science is making the man lazy and dependent on it. Leaders are manipulating people to fight and kill one another.
The happiness brought about by science is also making the man inactive and dependent on it. Man does not like to work physically.
Nuclear power, while it brings some luxuries to man, can cause greater destruction if misused. If the labs, world over, are closed down due to the fear of destruction, it would result in a comparatively lower standard of living.
Politicians create more trouble than conveniences for the public. If we eliminate them, the sociopolitical system may collapse. We should, however, try to make sure that science produces only those things that benefit mankind. Similarly, the politicians should think more about peace and not war. Just as berries and roses can be picked without touching their thorns, so can labs become the producer of things that create and retain peace, happiness, and prosperity in the world instead of weapons and ammunition for its annihilation.
All countries should formulate their policies in such a manner that their leader should not be in a position to interfere with the internal affairs of other countries and concentrate on their own internal affairs.
If required, such a task can be taken up by the international army or any forum so designed.
The leaders of the world cannot taste peace.
Because they do not know how bitter war is.
It is common knowledge that members of the political class do not risk themselves and their kith and kin in war; rather, they prefer to control it remotely. As such, they cannot realize the magnitude of destruction and suffering during war.
1. As the serpent leaves empty eggshells after sucking out the fluids inside, so do the lovers of war destroy busy towns and cities and leave behind rubble and ruins.
2. As the world kills cows and sheep and leaves empty skeletons behind, likewise, the lovers of war cause the deaths of thousands of laughing, dancing, and innocent people and leave behind piles of skeletons of men, women, and children.
Dream 6
The training in the armed forces concentrates on killing the opponents rather than teaching how to save the dying. Every home in the world has something made in Hong Kong. On the other hand, anyone who acquires any kind of arms finds that these are made in USA, Russia, or other advanced countries. Country after country uses tanks, fighter bombers, arms, and ammunition manufactured by the United States and the Russian Federation. Why do these nations not stop the instruments of death and destruction and instead channel their resources to produce grain, medicine, books, etc., and also educate doctors, nurses, teachers, and engineers instead of maintaining large armies? Perhaps they do not want peace, which would, in turn, help other countries develop.
Some countries are well known to supply the material of destruction.
Dream 7
Some Thoughts
1. Most of the governments pay more attention to armies than their people.
2. There are more soldiers than doctors.
3. There are more weapons than medical instruments.
4. There are more bullets than pills to remove pain and cure people.
5. It is as expensive to educate a child to become a soldier vis-à-vis to educate a child to become a doctor.
6. There are more bayonets on rifles than there are needles for giving injections to the sick.
7. More effort is made to save the life of a wounded soldier than the life of an innocent man during war.
Dream 8
There is a race among the countries to produce comparatively better and more lethal weapons since these will be a key to defeat the enemy in any conflict, though it may cause indescribable destruction and death.
I want them to beat each other
by
bringing a dying man to life
instead of
killing human beings.
Let us see who will do it first.
Dream 9
In the universe, there may be many planets with atmospheres that can sustain life, like this Earth. We might not have found them till this day, but we are likely to do so, someday. We have succeeded in reaching the moon, and our satellites have visited some other planets; therefore, it is very probable that intelligent beings from some other planet or from another galaxy might have visited Earth. No one is sure, but it is also possible that they might be much more advanced in science and technology than we are.
If someday they decide to attack our planet, is it possible to believe that all the powers of the world would unite to face them?
Dream 10
The USA and the Russians have landed on the moon. They may have landed in a zone devoid of life. If humans had existed on the moon and the astronauts had encountered them, do we know how people from Earth would have treated these "people" on the moon?
The possibilities are the following:
1. Extend a hand of friendship.
2. Try to catch some of them and bring them to Earth.
3. Try to kill them.
4. Try to make them slaves.
5. Try to deploy fatal weapons with their help to use them in future conflicts.
6. Get drunk and try to date their pretty girls.
7. Try to establish a spy station with their help and control secret weapons.
8. Incite them to fight one another.
Dream 11
Heroin, cannabis, and cocaine are illegal drugs. The government catches the traffickers and arrests and penalizes them. But the same government issues permits to people to sell guns and ammunition.
However, this is contradictory. The addict, after taking a shot of the drug, feels happy and goes to work, making a living for himself and his family. The government does not allow the buying and selling of illegal drugs. On the contrary, a bullet that would kill a man instantly is allowed to be sold openly in government-licensed shops.
I am not suggesting that the drugs should be legalized. What I mean is that the sale of bullets and illegal drugs should be stopped. Which option do you think is better? Please don't forget this is a dream.
Dream 12
Children
How can children born amid shelling and the sounds of bombs, guns, tanks, and fighter planes think about peace? It will take a long time to take the sound of bombs, guns, and planes out of their minds since they had heard these sounds even when they were in the womb.
Thousands of children were born during the span of fifteen years when US soldiers were in Vietnam. These children never experienced peace and, therefore, may not know what peace is. They think the whole world is like Vietnam. To make them believe that peace exists in the world may take more than fifteen years.
After fifteen years of war, we are not sure whether what was destroyed in Vietnam will ever be regained.
The same is being repeated in Afghanistan. We do not know for how long the war will last. It may last forever.
Dream 13
Decisions
Fighting does not settle anything. Any settlement reached by a fight between two groups cannot be final. The loser does not accept it and keeps on trying to change it. He is still an enemy of the winner. Whenever he gets a chance, he will counterattack his enemy.
But the decision made by love and peace is permanent because it is reached by a joint agreement.
The man won by love
never turns a rebel.
But the man won by the sword
can turn a rebel anytime.
Most human beings on earth are smoldering with envy and burning in the fire of revenge.
Dream 14
Some countries, with their military power, forcefully go into other countries and establish their military bases there, either by overt or covert means, and they get other nations to help them in their war plans. If they wish, they can involve themselves in peace plans of other countries.
I wish that after his electoral victory, the American president gives the following speech:
Ladies and gentlemen:
Let us make this country the home and guardian of peace.
Just as a white flag is a sign of peace, the White House would be a house of peace in the future. Millions of soldiers are in the armies all over the world and are doing nothing but parading and waiting for a war to start. We will not do this any more. America will not sell weapons, tanks, fighter planes, or anything else associated with war in the future. I declare that America will sell wheat, clothes, or medicine to any country, but America will not sell weapons. America will not lose business or money if it does not sell weapons. I am absolutely certain that America will make more profits by exporting food, medicine, and clothing. America can benefit from sending doctors and engineers to other countries because such people are more useful to humanity than weapons and more people and more countries need this kind of help.
Dream 15
Peace Forces
Sometimes I wonder what kind of games the world leaders play. First, they sell arms and ammunition to other countries and create friction that causes wars, then they send peace forces to establish peace. Their mode to establish peace is dependent on gun culture, which may result in the killing of innocent people, including women and children. Still, they are known as peace forces since they are trying to maintain peace with guns. Nobody has been able to establish peace with a gun. Even if it does succeed, it will not last long. If you have a gun in your hand, there is only one way to get peace: drop the gun.
1. If you have sold them weapons, let them have a war. Why send peace forces? They bought the weapons for a war, and you sold them for the same purpose.
2. If you want peace, do not sell arms even if other countries ask for them. Tell them that you will sell them anything else except war materials because you want peace and not war.
3. Why do we provide first aid to injured or dying soldiers in war or send them to hospitals? If they fight in a war, let them die because they fight to cause death. Or do we save them so that they will be ready to fight again?
Dream 16
In my dreams, most of the world leaders are like beasts, as the wild animals roam around to kill weaker animals to satisfy their appetites. Similarly, some countries are always on the lookout for a weaker country. Whenever they get a chance, they attack or exploit such smaller nations to fulfill their nefarious plans.
They have spread a network of spies all over the world. A snake eats a mouse, a lion kills a deer—stronger animals always prey upon weaker ones and not their fellow stronger ones. The same example fits to some stronger countries. Why don't they fight each other? The fact is that they don't want to make their countries as a battlefield.
