Amber Nimocks is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she spent more time in the offices of The Daily Tar Heel than she did in class but nonetheless managed to earn a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. She was a newspaper reporter and editor for 20-plus years, and her byline has appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The News & Observer of Raleigh, Our State, The Fayetteville Observer, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, and the Wilmington Star-News among others. She is currently director of external affairs for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Her favorite place outside of North Carolina is the Dingle Peninsula of Ireland. She lives with her husband Josh, her son Sam, her cat Floyd, and one fat, happy Beagle named Simon in downtown Raleigh.
