Sinossi

A wonderful question and answer source for all current and potential Catholics! The Question Corner is written from a lay member's perspective - truly a "book from the pews", instead of being dry and scholarly. Basic Christianity and Catholicism is pretty darned complicated, and 2,000 years of tradition brings a lot of baggage with it. Existing and future Catholics sometimes get left behind by the complexity, and this book addresses exactly that.Basic answers to basic questions make it easy to grasp everyday issues. It's comfortable to be an informed Catholic, or simply to understand Catholicism in general - from inside or outside, if the answers are right there. This is truly a basic instruction book from an "experienced", trained and experienced member of the congregation. Get a grasp on what's holy, and what's not! Understand what's important in your religious belief - your faith life - and what's not! Be able to answer those tricky questions about your beliefs, and to put those beliefs into practice into your life, and your family's life. The Question Corner, by Jerry Stephens, is a truly great resource! There are two more books by the same author which expand into areas of greater faith life, and an understanding of how Christian beliefs are all inclusive in Catholicism, and everybody who honors God is also loved by him. Don't let small differences of belief cause discord - we all deserve respect from each other, with compassion and mercy from the same God.A third book completes the series, Embrace the Journey - How to Develop a Living Faith. Energize your religion! Find ways and reasons to live a revitalized life in Christ, regardless of your current or chosen religious conviction. All faiths embrace the Creator, so let's search for common ground and live as He wants us to! Buy all three books, or one at a time. You won't be disappointed!

L'autore

Jerry Stephens is a long-time Catholic from the "old school" who embraces the vital newness of Catholicism brought by the Second Vatican Council of the 1960's. Born in the 1940's, having served a few thousand Latin masses as an altar boy, gone through Catholic schools, and brought up in a traditional Catholic family, he has a long history of learning. Jerry actually attended a Catholic seminary for three years, but eventually decided on a family life, rather than the priesthood. A post-graduate course in Christian Initiation at Loyola/Marymount University added significant credentials. Married now for 51 years, he has been a religious education instructor, a bible study leader, a counselor to returning and potential Catholics and filled many other shoes in the Catholic communities. He has led courses in the Rite of Christian Initiation for several years, and now leads a Catholics Coming Home ministry in his parish, along with starting a new men's personal growth ministry called the Shield Men's Group. He is an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and a lector; a leader of lay Eucharistic celebrations and Vigil Services for the deceased, and has written extensive how-to and why-to publications for various parish communities. He is a retreat leader, and coordinates many local Catholic functions. This is a well-informed book, written with just a bit of casual humor. It is very readable, while keeping a serious eye on Church doctrine, history, practices and beliefs. Be sure to get a copy today!
