Piano ABC's Level Two Point Five "Explorations" may be the most student-friendly book of the entire Piano ABC's curriculum. The format of Level Two Point Five "Explorations" is quite distinct from that of Levels One, Two, Three-A and Three-B. Students become fascinated as they do more independent thinking, engage in imaginative listening, discover new notes by themselves, and find new ways to get around the keyboard working their way through "Explorations." Playing new, original compositions designed to excite their musical imaginations, students will musically explore multi-diversities that present a cooking experiment, a wide range of geographical locations, various meteorological conditions, school activities, adventures, several styles of dances, music styles from far away or long ago and a few current trends in harmony and rhythm. Students will identify (in reverse alphabetical order) new Bass Clef notes from G down to A. As each note is individually discovered through interval reviews, word games, puzzles, and a conspicuous visual presentation, it can be expected that these Bass Clef notes will not be confused with Treble Clef notes of "similar appearance." A comprehensive presentation of various note-reading systems is given to further facilitate easy understanding of the logical way notes are written on the Grand Staff and ledger lines paralleling the forward alphabetical progression of keys from left to right on the keyboard. Students are encouraged to choose and use (or invent) a system that works best for them. As indicated by the title, Level Two Point Five should overlap the last half of Level Two and bond with the projects and pieces in the first half of Level Three-A. As always, each student should be encouraged to progress confidently at his/her own pace. Even if students have completed Level Two, and are working in the Level Three books, they will benefit from the opportunities to listen creatively, think independently, and make discoveries on their own that are presented in Level Two Point Five. Teachers will enhance their students' musical development by introducing them to the multi-faceted, stimulating approach of "Explorations." 108 pages.
