Dr. Stachiw is a long time scouting enthusiast (both as a boy and an adult), who was Troop committee
chairman for 20 years and heavily involved in the training of scouts in first aid, orienteering and
cooking. His formal training is in animal science, agricultural business and food science where he
also majored in statistics and computer mathematical modeling.

Dr. Stachiw is a long time scouting enthusiast (both as a boy and an adult), who was Troop committee chairman for 5 years and heavily involved in the training of scouts in first aid, orienteering and cooking. As part of the preparation for taking the troop to Philmont, New Mexico, Dr. Stachiw received Red Cross First Aid and CPR training along with yearly refresher CPR training by the local fire department. One of Dr. Stachiw’s tasks in training the young men in the troop was taking classroom based first aid training and placing it in an outdoor setting which is often more hectic and less organized.
