Sinossi

"Just do as you are told!" In a damp Northern town, Kaeden Donovan always does. He goes to work. He pays his rent and tries to be the best citizen he can be, hiding the pain of the breakdown of his marriage to Ella and working hard to meet the targets of his job at the Rixator Bank call centre. He is in much need of a holiday, preferably somewhere sunny. On the volcanic island paradise of Vueltina, the post-revolutionary governor, Carlo Messina does his best to balance the budget, scraping together the dwindling tax revenues to keep the roads and schools open in the face of immense pressure from his political sponsors to raid the emergency gold reserves. Soon after Kaeden’s arrival, the island is struck by a deadly volcanic eruption. During the ensuing dust storm, the island's true rulers rise from behind the scenes to seize power and exploit the last of the islands wealth. However, Carlo and Kaeden soon learn that their lives and struggles are more closely linked than they appear. A long time ago Carlo inspired the people of Vueltina to rise up and shake off the shackles of an empire. Can the two of them now inspire each other to do it once more? The Pale Sunlight of Spring is an adventure story which examines the effects of big businesses and tax avoidance at a political and personal level. The dangers of state owned media and business are well known but The Pale Sunlight of Spring explores the dangers of a media and business owned state.
