Clinical Procedures in Speech Language Pathology: Guidelines, Concepts, and Methods well equips students with the knowledge and skillsets they need to enter the speech language pathology profession, navigate work within clinical settings, and effectively assess and treat patients with communication disorders, delays, and differences.
The text is divided into three sections. Section I introduces the context of the profession, as well as a variety of contemporary issues speech language pathology professionals may face during their careers. These chapters address ethics, foundations, and laws; service delivery; cultural competency; and decision-making. In Section II, the book covers the process of assessing communication disorders, delays, and differences. Readers are guided through the full process from receiving client referrals to selecting the right test to conducting an assessment, and finally, scoring, analyzing, and interpreting its results. The final section explores topics related to research-based interventions, including the creation of treatment plans, goals, and objectives; session planning and clinical communication; and how to conduct therapy.
Developed to provide students with an approachable and complete introduction to clinical practice, Clinical Procedures in Speech Language Pathology is ideal for courses and programs within the discipline.
