About the Author

Grace MacGowan Cooke (1863 - 1944) American author Grace MacGowan Cooke was part of an artistic community in California and generally wrote with her sister Alice MacGowan. She published 30 books, dozens of short stories and poetry. Her father was the editor of the Chattanooga Times. Her books generally deal with the struggles of women at the turn of the 20th century. Her well regarded novels include The Power and the Glory and Girls of Silver Spur Ranch. Anne McQueen was known best for The Girls of the Silver Spur Ranch and her book on cancer care.
