Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is an account of a legal dispute over a parcel of land in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, between John McKinnon and several other local residents. McKinnon claimed ownership of the land, which he intended to use for building ships, while the defendants claimed that the land belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. The case involved questions of property rights, land use, and the authority of the Church in the community. The author provides a detailed account of the legal proceedings, including the arguments of both sides and the evidence presented in court. The book also explores the historical context of the dispute, including the role of the Church in Cape Breton and the relationship between the Church and the local community. The author argues that the case provides insights into the complex legal and social issues that shaped life in Cape Breton in the late 19th century, and offers a valuable perspective on the broader history of land disputes and the role of the Church in Canadian society.
