Excerpt from Base Map Analysis of Coastal Changes Using Aerial Photography
This report describes a technique to quantify changes in shoreline position using time - sequence aerial photos. Aerial photos, which are usually available more often than repetitive ground surveys, may be the only source of past shore line change data. The technique was developed during a sediment budget study conducted for the u.s. Army Engineer District, Philadelphia.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a technique for analyzing historical shoreline changes using aerial photography. It combines elements of surveying, photogrammetry, and geomorphology to provide a powerful tool for coastal scientists and engineers. The technique is unique in that it allows for the quantification of shoreline changes over time, providing valuable insights into the long-term behaviour of coastal systems. The author provides detailed instructions on how to apply the technique, including the construction of base maps, aerial photo analysis, and data reduction. The book also discusses the potential errors associated with the technique and provides guidance on how to minimize them. Overall, this book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding and quantifying shoreline changes over time. It provides a practical and cost-effective way to collect data on coastal change, which can be used to inform management decisions and improve our understanding of coastal processes. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
