What could be more ingrained in the Jewish psyche as well as pop culture everywhere than the B'nei Mitzvah ceremony?
For generations, families have joined synagogues and schlepped their kids to lessons. These hapless pre-teens struggle with cracking voices and unfamiliar melodies, fight with their parents about time spent practicing, and eventually face a couple hundred of their closest friends and relatives to sing for a couple hours in a foreign language. The current model of B'nei Mitzvah training does not resonate with most 13-year-old kids. They do it because they know they have to do it. Their parents and grandparents went through the same thing.
It's time to re-evaluate how our kids learn and prepare to be knowledgeable and engaged members of the Jewish community. Raising the Bar Mitzvah is the book that will lead Jewish professionals as well as lay congregants on a more productive and meaningful path.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. This is a book about embracing change for one of the most sacred ceremonies in Jewish tradition: the Bar Mitzvah. The current model of Bar Mitzvah training doesnt seem to resonate with teenagers today. Cantor Matt Axelrod explains why the ceremony should be adapted to combine personal interests (art, music, sports) to the original traditions. This connection allows a more positive path to preparing and learning about the ceremony and its rich traditions. The book will challenge the status quo of the past as a new generation of Hebrew leadership emerges, and proposes to become the resource guide of choice to better prepare synagogues for reuniting students (and parents!) to the Bar Mitzvah tradition and celebration. This book is about embracing change for one of the most sacred ceremonies in Jewish tradition. Cantor Axelrod explains that the ceremony needs to be adapted to a more personal approach, connecting the original traditions to whats most important to the students life. This allows a more positive path to preparing and learning about the ceremony. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
