He has developed his expertise in IDL by analyzing and visualizing large earth science datasets acquired by NASA earth-orbiting satellites and aircraft. He has also developed high-end application programs in IDL, including an application for visualizing data from a NASA airborne imaging sensor. He si a frequent contributor to the IDL Usenet newsgroup.
