Seven Alverno College faculty from various disciplines contribute six chapters on what it has meant for them to approach their disciplines as frameworks for student learning. Each examines what students should be able to do and how they should be able to think as a result of study in their discipline, what learning looks like at different developmental levels, how faculty design learning and assessment, how faculty approach study of their discipline with student learning as their primary focus, and what institutional structures and processes can assist faculty to engage and teach their discipline as a framework for student learning. A concluding chapter written by an Alverno graduate examines her experience of learning and how disciplines have functioned and continue to function as frameworks for her learning.
