A computer-based calculus course consisting of a complete interactive electronic text combined with a rich set of well chosen real life problems. The easy access to powerful technology allows experimentation. In the lab or lassroom the environment allows a partnership between teacher and student with emphasis on student responsibility. Independent study is also possible. Online tutoring is available. The courseware comes on a CD which contains all of the lessons, some extra tools, and Adobe PDF files for printing selected parts of the lessons: Lessons: 2D and 3D Measurements: Parametrics and Vectors, Vector Functions, Gradients and Flow, 2D and 3D Integrals.

Jerry Uhl, Bill Davis, and Horatio Porta are mathematicians associated with the University of Illinois and Ohio State University. They are well known in math circles for their research as will as for their pioneering work and attitudes in changing the way math is taught. Jerry won teaching awards at the University of Illinois, and the Illinois section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Bill won one at the Ohio State University. Jerry is a constant presence on math teaching reform list-servs, at national and international meetings on modern teaching techniques, and he regularly designs and runs workshops to introduce people to our courseware. Bill has designed and run workshops for the MAA and NSF in the pedagogy and technology of teaching with interactive computer-based materials. He has run workshopsand produced materials for the Interactive Math Text Project sponsored by IBM, MAA and NSF.
