Riassunto

Tom returns home from work to find suitcases in the hall and his wife preparing to leave his life for forever, taking his two beloved children to live in Ireland. Tipped into an abyss of despair and self-recrimination, he finds himself on an unplanned journey of rediscovery as the truths he seeks slowly unfold. I am Tom is a bittersweet and often hilarious tale, revolving around a Book Club and a rich cast of old friends, family and new acquaintances, each with their own challenges, experiences and perspectives. Hooking up with an old flame, he sees perhaps there is glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. Join Tom as he finds humour in the darkness, stumbling one step forward and two steps back, and along the way perhaps you may look at your own life and wonder about the part you play in your own story. In his heart Tom wrote this book to challenge the tyranny that is 42% of marriages fail in the UK. If in writing it one more family can be saved from being torn apart, perhaps it will begin to redress the balance of his own failure. From London to the Outer Hebrides, Tom’s journey is a modern allegory that we all live amongst and to which we all too often turn a blind eye. At last, I am Tom gives us reason to openly talk, cry, laugh and act upon the situation none of us want, but almost half will have to face.
