Whether or not we stay in the EU, we have to have some form of drive through crossing between Northern & Southern Ireland it is patently obvious. What I propose is based on this premise that every vehicle will be dynamically weighed as they pass by many miles away from the border whist they travel at their normal speed within the existing speed limits without stopping. In the text hereto I fully explain how this can be achieved using current technology.Basically My System comprises of:~Vehicles will be loaded in a Dispatch Bay, & an Electronic Bill of Lading Message will be sent to the Belfast & Dublin Control Centre’s. ~Vehicles will pass over the Weigh in Motion Equipment set in the roadway. This then measures the vehicles weight which will be sent Electronically to the two Main Control Centre’s.~If there is a discrepancy in the weight Mobile Customs Control Vehicles manned by recruiting non UK/Ireland citizens . will be Advised, then a decision will be made on what to do. The vehicles Will have GPS installed & could be inspected at the delivery point or at a Port.Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had this system installed at all of our Ports, with no more Lorries having to queue up. They would electronically be advised how they should proceed by message boards & such like.
