The Work Orientation Information Survey (WOI) was developed specifically to uncover potential work adjustment problems or concerns. It can lead the consumer and the service provider to areas of work-related concerns or aspects of maladjustment needing possible treatment or intervention. It sheds light on the problems whether related to self-image as a worker, attitudes toward work, dependability, interaction with other people, performance issues, or what personal work needs can be fulfilled or frustrated for the individual. The ultimate purpose of the WOI, an economic one page interview guide, is to prompt the consumer to respond to meaty work adjustment questions with answers the person and service provider(s) can use to more deeply understand the person’s fitness for engagement in employment that is called “work adjustment”. The book provides a lengthy list of research results that can lead to a scorable approach but it is best open to subjective-intuitive analysis due to its face validity. The book also provides an in-depth analysis of personal work needs by an expert in work adjustment relying on an extensive review of the literature.
