Hazel Spire's parents were both newspaper reporters in the south of England. Her childhood in a seaside resort, followed by travels in the Middle East and USA inspired Hazel's poetry, as well as two mysteries for middle grades: SECRET OF THE SEVENTH GATE (Royal Fireworks 2001) and ARROWHEAD'S LOST HOARD (The P3 Press 2008); and a rhyming picture book MEANS TEN ON THE FACE OF BIG BEN: A LONDON ALPHABET (Raemark Press 2018). Hazel Spire lives in SE Kansas with her husband of 40 years. She enjoys reading, painting, crafts, choir, and swimming.
