Riassunto

Manifested Dreams: An African-American Family Stories that Will Move You to TearsThought-provoking and inspiring, Manifested Dreams offers a touching family story of several generations of African-Americans living in a radically divisive America. Nowadays, many people claim that we're living in a post-racist society. But racism is still alive and well all over the world; it is just more sophisticated and insidious than before, making people think it has disappeared.Manifested Dreams starts with Amari, a young boy whose grandmother passed away. Amari loved listening to his grandma's stories from the past and, one day, he stumbled upon a box filled with precious letters. Each letter was written by a different person. The first letter was written by Sallie, born a slave on Davies Plantation in Tennessee who explains what it was like to live as an African-American in the 1860s. Then, her daughter Isabelle takes over and explains what life was like in the 1920s. The book continues exploring the lives of Lisa, Jessica, and lastly Amari and presents the life of African-Americans throughout history. Here is what you'll discover inside this book:•A Skillfully Crafted Plot: Explore the stories of African-American women that will grab your attention and keep you glued to the book until the very end;•Black Girl Magic: Read about brave heroines who had to fight for their rights and remind yourself of the beauty, power, and resilience of Black women;•Is History Repeating Itself?: Discover how things have changed in the 21st century and the experiences Amari is going through;•And much more!Manifested Dreams chronicles the history of African-American families using a completely different perspective from boring, history books. Explore the stories of different generations of this family and remind yourself of the world's discriminatory policies and racial inequities.
