Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the most brilliant men of the Italian Renaissance. He was a superb painter, sculptor, architect, as well as a magnificent inventor. His intellectual interests spanned all categories of human knowledge and pioneered designs for inventions such s the parachute, the helicopter and the tank. His work on human anatomy provided the foundation for modern medicine.
