This memoir details what impactful and tragic events led for this resettlement to occur; and also how the author's parents elaborately met in Mexico City and how harshly their lives together began once settled in the U.S.

Stories and anecdotes illustrate how the author's family coped living with an alcoholic father throughout their lives. The author also details several jobs he has had, particularly as an educator. He writes about his experiences, both positive and negative, in great detail. Also, he intricately conveys advice to anyone who is considering a career in teaching.

Lastly, the author writes about one of his hobbies: running. He became inspired to run after watching his brother complete a Marathon (26 miles) in 2 hours and 24 minutes!
