L'autore

Christine McCourt studied social anthropology at the London School of Economics, where her doctoral work was an ethnographic study of the closure of a British Victorian asylum. She is now Professor of Anthropology and Health, based in the Centre for Research in Midwifery and Childbirth in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences, Thames Valley University, where she works in the area of women's health, childbirth and the critical study of biomedical healthcare as a cultural system.
