As the training of family and systemic practitioners becomes increasingly more formalised, the issue of supervision and supervisory training has grown in importance. Systemic Supervision evaluates the practical and theoretical issues involved in implementing and maintaining effective supervisory training within a family therapy practice. Gill Gorell Barnes is a senior lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic, a consultant for training at the Institute of Family Therapy, a family and couples therapist and a family researcher. Damian McCann is the principal family therapist in a child and family mental health service unit, a supervisor at the Institute of Family Therapy and an honorary lecturer at University College, London. Gwynneth Down is a senior family therapist at the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, a supervisor at the Institute of Family Therapy, and an honorary lecturer at Birkbeck College. All three are practising family therapists with a commitment to understanding family strength in a society of diverse and changing family forms.
