This volume comprises the proceedings of the IV World Conference on Birds of Prey and Owls held in Berlin, Germany, 10-17 May 1992. The conference was attended by over 500 participants from all over the world, including, for the first time, a large contingent from the countries of Eastern Europe and the former USSR. Out of the unprecedented number of papers, 102 papers are published in this book, covering a series of ten sessions on various themes - "Population studies", "Declining raptor populations", "Tropical forest raptors", "Re-introductions", "Radio-tracking and telemetry", "Biology and conservation of large falcons", "Population ecology of owls", "Rare and little-known owls", "systematics and taxonomy", "Environmental contaminants". Following a key-note address by Dr C. Koenig, these papers embody the latest advances in the study and conservation of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey.
