Sponsored by the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) and the SETAC Foundation for Environmental Education, this volume captures the proceedings of a July 1997 workshop held in Anaconda, Montana. In seven chapters, participants from academic, government, and industry deliberate over increasing concerns over chemical impacts on reproduction and development in egg- laying wildlife, identification of key information gaps, and research strategies for filling such gaps. Major issues addressed by the North American participants include: the pathways by which exposures are likely to occur in these indicator species; chemical sensitive aspects of oviparity; lifecycle-impacting mechanisms; effects on reproduction and development; and ecological risk assessments of toxicants in oviparous vertebrates. Member price is $60. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
