Just when the situation becomes dire, they run into a cool, clear, pond of sparkling water. The sign says the water is for "thirsty sixes." which sounds like the answer to 6x6, 36. When students see 6 x 6, they remember the story and then they remember the answer. Adults who used to be kids still remember learning these clever and fun stories when they were in elementary school.
