Five in a Row, Volume 8 uses the same approach and learning methods as the chapter book units in Volumes 5, 6, and 7 while moving your student on to more advanced topics in each academic area. Volume 8 contains two nonfiction chapter book units covering Social Studies (including History, Geography, and Career Paths), Science, Language Arts (including Writing and Discussion Questions and Vocabulary), Fine Arts, and Life Skills. Volume 8 also contains a longer and more complex fiction chapter book unit that can be rowed differently than previous units. This unit can be rowed with parent oversight as done with previous units or independently (student-led). Special instructions and tips for how to use this unit, written to both parent and student, are included in the manual. There is also a Research Paper and Service Project involved with the final unit; these provide an excellent opportunity for your student to dive deeply into long-term assignments and learn how to schedule and complete these types of projects.
As with all previous volumes of Five in a Row, you’ll find Teacher’s Notes pages for every title, providing a place to record lessons, go-along resources, favorite memories, and more; and Activity Sheets for each chapter that support and add to the lessons.
