A History of Science is an exciting, read-aloud approach to the study of science! This course uses biographies (sold-separately) to tell the life stories of famous scientists like Archimedes, Galileo, and Einstein, while hands-on experiments are used to see the scientists' theories with your own eyes. An enriching way to introduce biology, chemistry and physics! Designed around living books, students will read favorites such Archimedes and the Door of Science, Benjamin Franklin of Old Philadelphia, Marie Curie's Search for Radium, and others, while following the lesson plans. Easily followed, step-by-step directions give students the exact steps to take for each lesson, including the page numbers to read in each book. Students will build a science portfolio (either a binder or notebook) that includes vocabulary-work, conduct experiments, and use reference works to make and mark maps. Over the span of the entire course, students will learn about basic scientific principles and the history of scientific study from ancient Greece through the 1990s. Contains 85 lessons to be studied over the course of one year. 50 pages, softcover. Non-reproducible, non-consumable resource. Portfolio notebook, experiment supplies, and all required books are not included and must be obtained by the parent. Primary & Intermediate Grades: Grades 3-7. Line-listed answer key included at the back.
