I would like to say how much I have enjoyed this book, with all the delightful pictures of "Folkestone Then and Now". I am an old Folkestonian, born here in May 1916. Folkestone of course has changed unbelievably since I was a little child and lived at No. 6 Bouverie Square - Marks & Spencer's was half way down the High Street and everything was one penny! My grandfather, James Munckton, had a saddlers shop in Sandgate Road opposite Oclee's, the Jewellers. It closed during WW1, when he died. Once there was a rabies scare and they made a lot of money making muzzles for dogs! Behind the shop was a garden and they kept two horses there! Thank you again for the pleasure your book has given me. Vera Maitland Leveson, Folkestone --James M, Folkestone
