Riassunto

Writers Martin Howey and David Bond offer a special insight in to the history of Sunderland AFC in "Meet Me in the Roker End", revealing many stories from the past including the long-serving captain who thought his manager was a schizophrenic, another Roker skipper who spent 25 years working offshore and yet another famous leader whose manager ordered him to work as a builder. Then there are the tales of the England international who spent the night at Joan Collins' house, the star inside-forward who used Mickey Spillane novels as shinpads, the big-time buy whose afternoons were spent playing one-a-side with the legendary Bill Shankly and the all-time-great who turned out to be dab hand with the feather duster. There are also the yarns of the prolific goal scorer who was robbed of an international cap and goal by an FA ruling, the all-time-great who was portrayed on a postage stamp, the wing-half who sparked a diplomatic incident by signing his name as "Eggs and Bread", the FA Cup winner who was an expert tap dancer and the winger who studied poultry-keeping. Read all these fascinating stories and many more about other Sunderland heroes in "Meet Me in the Roker End".
