The year is 1979 - and intelligence agents from three countries are slowly converging on a shipping magnate intent on disrupting the Western economy through an audacious and exlosive plan that would rock the world. But why would wealthy Canadian immigrant Victor Spinelli embark on a plan of apparent ruinous self-destruction? Who are his "masters"? What is the real agenda? As the three agents work unknown to each other, the cleverly crafted story unfolds with twists and turns and plenty of action. Maverick CIA agent Ben Lowndes thinks he's on his own with his suspicions of Spinelli. But French Intelligence agent Charles Valance is in the thick of the action, while the beautiful British agent Esther Laurence is playing a key role in the mystery as she uses every trick in her feminine intuition store. As the three eventually meet up, the mystery only deepens. Eastern bloc countries are quick to deny any involvement and Spinelli disappears while the race is on to prevent a financial calamity of epic proportions that would greatly please those alien to Western democracy. Author Richard Hill keeps you spellbound with his Fleming-style story telling ability and Le Carre-like attention to descriptive detail. This is a gripping tale and an excellent read.
