Part 2 in the Shame trilogy. The second book Shame: Pursuit follows Shame's development after escaping her prison and embracing her father's evil nature. Virtue, reborn into the body of Shame's child, has spent 16 years trapped in Cradle, originally created to contain and nurture her daughter. Now it has been corrupted and become a dangerous jungle populated by the twisted torturers that once were dryads and sprites. Outside, Shame's evil power has spread. Many people fall victim to her influence or are put to the sword or flame. Some of the survivors band together and fight back. Of these rebels there is a young man, Merritt. He searches the heart of the Great Swamp to find the one person who might save them from Shame's evil rule, Virtue.

Shame s creator, Lovern Kindzierski, is best known as a veteran comics colourist. Some of his earliest work was on the Marvel classic Tomb of Dracula, and he has worked on X-Men, Star Trek, and Dr. Who as well, garnering many nominations for best colourist in the industry. Kindzierski was chosen to bring a new look and approach to DC s burgeoning mature readers line (which became Vertigo), and worked on Hellblazer and Sandman cover designs with cover artist Dave McKean. In 1991 he co-founded Digital Chameleon with Chris Chuckry, and in 1994 began making extensive use of Adobe Photoshop in his work. DC was the first studio to make the use of Photoshop widespread in comics. Kindzierski s first exposure to writing was co-writing Keith Giffen s Lunatik, a reworking of Giffen s old Defenders character (who ultimately morphed into DC s Lobo ) for Marvel. Kindzierski has written Spider-Man, Wolverine and Tarzan, and his latest project is Necromantic, with David Ross illustrating.
