Sinossi

Set in the 1970s, Mr Oliver is the manager of a London Store. He has just celebrated his fiftieth birthday and believes his position to be invulnerable. Enter his nemesis, twenty-two year old Claire Daker. He falls in love with her but also finds a rival for Claire's affections in Miss Frances, the store buyer. Mr Oliver looks back over a year of disasters while at the same time defending himself from the attentions of tempestuous Northern business-woman Doreen Mildmay. This is a darkly comic novel exploring the nature of obsession.
