<div>A General Headquarters (GHQ) was formed by the British for each theater of World War I, often when the build-up of British forces became too complex for the local forces to retain command. This book offers an account of the GHQ run by Field Marshall Douglas Haig, who commanded the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front from 1915 to the end of the war. Fox takes us inside Haig’s GHQ located at Montreuil-sur-Mer and shows the complexity of the planning that led to the ultimate defeat of the German Army.<br>  <br> Originally published in 1920 and updated here with statistical summaries of casualties, ammunition, and supplies as well as photographs, this book offers a unique and balanced look at life in the GHQ and fills an important gap in the understanding of the administration of the war. <br>  </div>
