Dalla quarta di copertina

The most significant moments in life are marked by rituals: Babies are welcomed with naming ceremonies, new unions are celebrated with marriage, and death is mourned according to established tradition. Whether religious or secular in nature, these rites of passage imbue the passing of time with shared meaning. Rituals also bind and build communities, and remind us of our shared history. In Issue Thirty-Eight, Kinfolk considers the significance of ritual and meets the individuals reimagining old traditions and inventing new ones: Bri Luna, the founder of Hoodwitch, an innovative online community making American witchcraft more vibrant and inclusive; Javier Dzul, whose dance company has the express aim of keeping Mayan ritual dance alive; and Abby Stein, the author whose memoir Becoming Eve documents her transition from ultra-orthodox rabbi to trans woman.
