Sinossi

"You’d be hard-pressed to find a better American story than this one. . . . Rafael Cruz is one of the greatest freedom fighters of his generation." —Glenn Beck, from the foreword

America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, by moral leaders, many of whom were strong Christians themselves. The first settlers were committed Christians seeking refuge from religious persecution abroad. In the last hundred years, America has been on a slippery slope, moving away from its founding principles, and in large part with little resistance from the Church.

In A Time for Action, Rafael Cruz presents a simple underlying message: For Christians, Jesus Christ should be the foundation of the lives they build and they should be active in making a difference in the world around them. In practical terms, that means we should strive for a free society that respects each of God’s children; we should embrace the Judeo-Christian values of love, joy, and peace; and we should seek a relationship with the living God. It means people of faith should actively participate in the political process in order to combat the debilitating and deceptive progressive mantra that there should be a separation of church and state.

A Time for Action is the story or one man’s quest for refuge from Cuban persecution to realizing the American dream. It is a story about one man finding true freedom that comes from faith in Jesus Christ. It is the story of this great nation that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and why it has fallen from grace. It is a wake-up call to the faithful across the land to step up to the challenge of entering the public arena and taking on the forces at work to destroy the guiding principles that made this country great. Religious people must saddle up. They must vote and volunteer and campaign. They must get in the political game. The followers of Christ are, in His words, “the light of the world.” But for a light to have its effect, it has to shine in the darkness. That’s why our mission is “to declare,” as St. Paul said, “the whole counsel of God.” If we continue to remain silent, we will answer to God for our silence.

America has been a bastion of freedom and opportunity for over two hundred years. In the 1950s, when Rafael Cruz immigrated to the United States from Cuba, he was able to find a job as a dishwasher, put himself through school, and build a successful career. Cruz knows what it means to value freedom, which is why when he saw the country moving in a socialistic direction in the late seventies, he joined the Texas state board of the Religious Roundtable, a Judeo-Christian organization that mobilized millions of people of faith to help elect President Ronald Reagan in 1980. Rafael Cruz went on to become an ordained minister and actively speaks at many churches and pastors conferences across America about the importance of defending the freedoms we enjoy. Rafael Cruz, father of Senator Ted Cruz, is a freedom fighter. Born in Cuba in the 1940s, his political activities against Batista s regime landed him in jail, where he was beaten by prison guards and barely escaped a firing squad. Fleeing to the United States with only a hundred dollars sewn into his underwear, Cruz worked as a dishwasher while putting himself through school and ended up building a successful career. Due to an economic downturn and some poor decisions, Cruz found himself struggling to raise a family, maintain a marriage, and sustain a crumbling business. After hitting bottom, he found hope, a new life and a new purpose.A Time for Action is more than the story of one man s quest for refuge from Cuban persecution to realizing the American dream. It is a story about one man finding true freedom that comes from faith in Jesus Christ. It is the story of how this great nation, founded on Judeo-Christian principles, has come to fall from grace. It is a warning of the dangers to come if America doesn t change its course and an action plan for rescuing America from an age of lawlessness.A Time for Action is a wake-up call to the faithful across the land to step up to the challenge of entering the public arena and taking on the forces at work to destroy the guiding principles that made this country great. Religious people must saddle up. Proverbs 2 says, when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Everyone who believes in the Gospel needs to preach the Gospel not just through our words but through our actions. For a light to have effect, it has to shine in the darkness. Find out what you can do to be the light of world and a force for good against those determined to fundamentally transform America. There is time if we answer the call.
