Carrie Barclay, a seventeen-year-old high school senior gifted with brilliant communication skills struggles with maturity issues and manages to find trouble because of it. She navigates her world and searches for direction, a good job, and a prom date—opportunities arise which test her resolve. Carrie finds comfort in a best friend who strongly suggests ancestral research to help find her roots for future direction. Her Uncle Wit has other ideas for her, but making it up as one goes creates a conundrum, especially when Carrie’s mother wants him to have no part in her life. Through her struggles she finds a place in her heart for her uncle. Feeling the need to help him find peace and direction, Carrie discovers that her own issues and ways of resolving them are leading her into a new chapter of her life. A small gift from an old friend will eventually solidify why her gift of communication is so important.

Todd is a native of North Dakota, but is currently living in Tennessee. Having lived in each location for approximately twenty-five years, he enjoys the unique perspective and experience of the two completely different cultures. He writes stories that seek and capture the essence of life from both areas. Many of the trials and events he writes about come from personal experiences in his own life. He also loves researching elements of his stories for that added knowledge a reader may glean from the pages. Todd has twenty-five years of teaching experience in grades three-seven and is currently teaching in an elementary school. Todd is also a custom woodworker, and loves building and working with his hands. He is married with four children, one grandchild, two dogs, and two outdoor cats, and they all love the country life. He wishes to write books that are hard for any reader to put down.
